GLOVE BOX FILTERS
Slurries with high solid content are filtered using Glove Box arrangement. When a user manually scrapes the cake from the bottom filter plate by putting his hands in a Glove arrangement. Normally these are used in closed systems where opening and closing of filters is hazardous.
The Reaction mass is cooled and filtered through glove box filter by applying vacuum on the downstream side of the filter, upstream of the filter media would be under- 8" WC. The cake collected over filter media after washing is manually scrapped from the filter media & collected in a cake collection chamber. Filter aid is also sometimes used for better filtration. Polypropylene glove inserts are provided for inserting hands of operator manually scrapping the cake. The Cake collection chamber has a Purpose built detacheble portable container. In certain cases cake is bascketted directly from Cake collection chamber. Accordingly the Glove Box filter is classified in to with /without purpose Built Container .
The filter plates used can be of normal cloth media or porous filter media
